Embed a YouTube Video into a Panopto Video

Panopto has a feature which allows you to easily insert a YouTube video within your recorded Panopto video

 

STEP 1

Hover over your recorded video and select “Edit”Image of available options after hovering over a video, with the "edit" button highlighted with a red rectangle.


STEP 2

Select “Contents” from the menu items on the leftImage of the "contents" menu option highlighted, with a red arrow pointing to it.

 

STEP 3

In the edit timeline at the bottom, click a time/location where you want the YouTube video to be insertedImage of the edit timeline, with a red arrow pointing to a red line which is the edit marker.

 

STEP 4

Click the YouTube icon at the bottom of the table of contents on the left side of the pageImage of table of contents editor, with "add a youtube video" icon highlighted with a red square.

Complete the settings on the right side of the page:

  1. Enter your desired YouTube link in the “Link” field (ie: https://www.youtube.com)

  2. Adjust the “Time” where you want the YouTube video to begin playing in your Panopto video

  3. List a “Start” time for the content in the YouTube video to begin at that time

  4. List an “End” time for the content in the YouTube video to end at that time

  5. Include or exclude the YouTube video player “controls” for users

  6. Select if you would like the video to “Autoplay” for users or not

  7. Click “Done” when finishedImage displaying aforementioned settings 1-7 in a vertical list

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

STEP 5

Review the added YouTube content in the Contents timeline on the left – Click it any time to adjust settings (from Step 4) or delete it by clicking the 3 dots menuImage depicting YouTube content appearing in the table of contents, with the 3 dots edit button highlighted with a red rectangle.

 

STEP 6

Click “Apply” on the top right of the page to save the inserted YouTube videoImage of the "Apply" button
