Panopto videos can be automatically graded and reported to the Brightspace gradebook for the following gradable activities:
1. Based on completion of a quiz set up inside your Panopto video (*immediate grade reporting).
If you have not already done so, you will need to create a quiz inside your Panopto video.
2. Based on % of the video watched (*up to 48 hours delayed grade reporting).
(Note: This process automatically creates a grade item for you tied to your course gradebook)
STEP 1
In Brightspace, create a new module or visit the module where you want to add the video
Click on “Existing Activities” and select “Panopto Quizzing Tool”
STEP 2
Select the desired option for grading the assignment
Grade on % viewed: The percentage of the video watched by the student will automatically report to the gradebook (ie: 95% video watched = 95% grade. This option is delayed up to 48 hours).
Grade on quiz results: This requires creating a quiz inside your video on the Panopto platform. Once created, this option can automatically grade the quiz and report the results to the Brightspace gradebook.
STEP 3
Select the video that you want students to view and be graded on, then click 'Insert' at the bottom.
STEP 4
The tool will be linked in text for students to click and watch the embedded video. It will have the same title in Brightspace as the video title you selected in step 3
⇒ The title of the tool can be edited if desired by clicking the arrow/chevron and “Edit Properties in Place”
STEP 5
View the grade results in the course gradebook in Brightspace
⇒ Click “Grades” in the green Navbar
⇒ Navigate to the grade column where your video title is located to review/edit student grades
Note: The Grade on % Viewed option will be delayed reporting to the gradebook for up to 48 hours. Quiz grades will report right away and may have momentary delay.
