Paragraph Headings

Headings organize of the content on a page. Web browsers, plug-ins, and assistive technologies use them to provide page navigation.

Nest headings by their  level. The most important heading at the top level of Heading 1, the least important heading at the level of Heading 6.

The instructions below outline the steps to add headings to a word document.

STEP 1:
  • Open the Word document. 

 
STEP 2:
  • To add Headings, select the text, from the Home tab, from the ribbon, locate the Heading 1 in the  styles.

 

STEP 3:
  • Click on the appropriate heading level.

STEP 4:
  • To add or modify more style, click on the Styles Pane to expand the style menu.

STEP 5:
  • Select the appropriate heading to use in the document.

STEP 6:
  • To modify or format a style, click on the style, click the arrow and select Modify Style.

STEP 7:
  • Make the edit to the style you want to format using the properties and format settings.

 

STEP 8:
  • When you are done making edits, click OK.
