Panopto has a cut tool which allows you to edit and remove segments of your recorded videos
STEP 1
Hover over your video and click “Edit”
STEP 2
Select “Cuts” on the left side of the page – this is where you can review the timestamps of segments of video you trim or remove while editing
STEP 3
Navigate to the bottom of the page and ensure the cut tool is selected (small green scissors)
When the cut tool is selected, you will see a horizontal grey line at the very beginning and very end of the video content
Simply click and drag the grey line as a quick method to remove content from the beginning or end of the video – The area that is greyed out will be removed
To cut content from the middle of the video, double-click at the start time and drag to the right to the end time you want removed – The area that is greyed out will be removed
Note: If your video is long, the edit time line may become very small and hard to select a specific time – Use the magnifying glass zoom options that become available on the bottom right for long videos - Zoom in or out on the time line for more accurate cutting
STEP 4
To remove or adjust a cut, click the grey line of your cut and drag to the other grey line until the grey area is removed
STEP 5
Click the 3 dots menu on your individual cuts and click ‘Edit’ to manually enter a specific start and end time of your cut
STEP 6
When you’re finished, click “Apply” on the top right of the page to permanently save your cuts
(Note: Cuts can always be adjusted or removed at a later time after selecting ‘Apply’)
