Create a Panopto Video

You can record a video on the Panopto website or with the downloadable application. Steps for both are below. Offline recording is also available with the downloadable application – see bottom of document

 

Record a New Video via Website

(Note: recorded videos will automatically be stored in your Panopto folders upon completion)

 

STEP 1

Click ‘Create’ on the top left corner of the page

STEP 2

Select “Panopto Capture” / “Record in browser”

STEP 3

          → Change Audio options as needed (select a microphone if multiple mics)

          → Change Video options as needed (switch cameras if multiple cams)

 → Choose a Screen or App to display in your video – if you need to share within the video your Entire Screen; a specific Window; or a browser Tab you have open

STEP 4

Click the settings gear icon on the bottom right to expand more settings options

STEP 5

Click the circular red button at the bottom-center of the player to begin recording

Click the square red button to stop recording

Update your video name if desired by clicking and replacing the date & time that displays on the top right – By default, the date and time will appear as the video name

**If you need to continue recording where you left off after stopping a recording, follow the below steps:

  1. Hover over your video and select “Settings”
  2. On the “Overview” page, select “Resume in Capture” or “Resume in Panopto for Windows/Mac”

Create a New Video via downloaded application

(Note: When signed in, recorded videos will automatically upload to the server/website and be stored in your Panopto folders upon completion. Learn more about Offline recording at the bottom of this document)

 

STEP 1

Click ‘Create’ on the top left corner of the page to load downloadable app options
(if you already downloaded Panopto, it can be opened directly from your desktop as well)

STEP 2

Select the top option “Panopto for Windows or Mac” / “Record in Application”


 

STEP 3 (if app has not been downloaded yet)

Select the appropriate application download for your device next to the 'Panopto' options

STEP 4

Select “Launch Panopto”

STEP 5

Manage video camera and audio recording options if needed

Select or add another video source for displaying within your recorded video

Click “Settings” on the top right for further advanced settings options

STEP 6

Under “Create New Recording” click the circular red button to begin recording

Click the square red button to stop recording

Offline Recording

The downloadable Panopto application allows for Offline recording. When recording offline, the application will save the video file, however the file would need to be uploaded to the Panopto website at a later time when connected to the internet.

 

Choose the options to continue offline:
