Add a PowerPoint Presentation to Your Panopto Video

This document covers the following:

  • Add PowerPoint slides to appear at specific times in a recorded video
  • Display PowerPoint slides while recording a presentation (using website as well as downloaded application)

Add PowerPoint Slides to a Recorded Video

 

STEP 1

Hover over your recorded video and select “Edit”Image of options available after hovering over video, with "edit" button highlighted with a red rectangle.

 

Select the “Slides” option on the left side of the screen, then click “Add a Presentation” and upload your saved PowerPoint documentImage of "slides" option highlighted among menu items, with a red arrow pointing to it. And an image to the right of "Add Presentation" option for selection.

 


 

STEP 2

Your slides will appear for review on the left side of the screen – Click the plus + icon on the desired slide to add it to the videoTwo side by side images. STEP 3

When your slides are added where you want them, click “Apply” at the top to saveAn image of the "Apply" button highlighted with a red rectangle.

 



 

Display PowerPoint Slides While Recording a Video (via web browser)

Note: it is recommended to run a quick test first by recording for a few seconds to ensure your slides are appearing in the
recording as expected


 

STEP 1

Click “Create” to record a new video and select 'Record in Browser'Image displaying the "Create" button.


 

STEP 2

Click “Screens and Apps” on the top right of the playerImage displaying the "screens and apps" option.

STEP 3

Open your PowerPoint presentation

On the top right, click the “restore down” button so that you can keep the PowerPoint window open, but drag it down on the screen so you can access the Panopto options againImage of the browser "restore down" button displayed highlighted by a red square.


 

STEP 4

Navigate back to the Panopto “Screens and Apps” options you have open and select your PowerPoint file (after selecting the PowerPoint window, you can click the record button when ready and your Powerpoint slides will appear in the recording)

Note: it is recommended to run a quick test first by recording for a few seconds to ensure your slides are appearing in the recording as expected

 

STEP 1

First ensure to save your PowerPoint file on your computer then open the PowerPoint presentation


 

STEP 2

Open the Panopto application and select “Capture PowerPoint” on the left side under “Secondary Sources” (Note: the application will auto-detect your opened PowerPoint file)Image of "capture powerpoint" selected under Secondary Sources options.


 

STEP 3

If you want your slides to display right as you begin recording, select “Start presenting when recording starts” – You should then see your slides appear on your screen when you record. Choose “Open a different presentation” if needed.Image displaying options to "start presenting when recording starts," and "open a different presentation."

If you want your slides to display in the video at a later time after you begin recording, revisit the ‘Secondary Sources’ menu on the left side and toggle “Capture PowerPoint” when you’re readyImage of "capture powerpoint" selected under Secondary Sources options.
