Add a Panopto Video to Brightspace Module

This guide provides instructions for how to insert a Panopto Video into a Brightspace course module for students to watch

STEP 1

Click into the module where you want to add the video and select “Upload/Create”Image of the "upload / create" option, and Image of list of "New" options and "Create a File" option to select upload from.

 

STEP 2

Option 1

To embed the video, click the “Insert Stuff” icon at the top of the text editor and then select “Panopto Embed” from the listTwo images - Image on left depicting the "insert stuff" icon, with red arrow pointing to it, and an image of the "Panopto Embed" option with a red arrow pointing to it for the next step.

“Choose” your video file from the list (this will be connected directly to your Panopto folders)
“Upload” the video if you saved it as a file
“Record” a new Panopto video at this moment in timeImage of Choose; Upload; and Record options

 

Then click “Insert” – and click “Insert” again to embed the videoTwo images - Image on left of first "Insert" button. Image on right of second "Insert" button.

*Note: If you don’t see your folders appear in the dropdown, open a new tab in the same browser and sign in to the website to create the sync and try again: www.panopto.com

Option 2 (step 2 continued)

To place the video link in Brightspace, go to the module where you want to place the video

(Note: with this option you will also need to update the share settings from ‘restricted’ so students can watch the video)

 

  1. Select the Insert Stuff icon at the top of the text editorImage of the Insert Stuff icon in Brightspace highlighted with a red rectangle
  2. Select “Insert Link”Image of the Insert Link option
  3. Go to Panopto and hover over the video you want to share and select the Share iconImage of an individual video being hovered over, with the share icon option highlighted with a red rectangle.
    Then click “Copy Link”Image of the video link field, with text Copy Link highlighted with a red rectangle.
  4. Back in Brightspace, paste the video URL copied from your video in PanoptoImage of the URL field where the copied link should be placed
  5. Enter link text for display and click “Insert” at the bottom to embed the Panopto link into the Brightspace module (ensure to click ‘save and close’ when finished)Two images - An image on top of the link text display field, and an image on bottom of the blue "Insert" button.

STEP 3

Ensure to click “Save and Close” when ready and to toggle student “Visibility” as neededImage depicting the "Save and Close" option and "Visibility" toggle option.
