Instructions to navigate and participate in discussions within Brightspace.
STEP 1:
- Navigate to the Discussions tab.
- The Discussions List will display all the Discussion Forums.
- Use the Filter by option to filter and search for specific topics and threads.
- Click the Expand All Forums to view threads and posts for all forums.
- Click on the forum title to expand the specific forum and view latest threads and posts.

The Subscriptions tab will display options to receive notifications for forums, topics and threads.
STEP 4:
- Click on the Forum to view the topics in the forum.
- From here you can view the number of threads and posts for the topic.
- Click on the Topic name to view the topic and start a thread.
STEP 5:
- Use the Filter by option to search specific threads to respond to, or start a new thread.
- Click Start a New Thread.
STEP 6:
- Follow the instructions provided by the instructor.
- Give the thread a Title and type in your discussion content in the content editor field.
- Click Add Attachments to upload a file or record a message.
- When the discussion thread is complete, select Post.
STEP 7:
The discussion thread will appear in the list with the date and time posted.
The thread will indicate the number of unread, replies, views and ratings.
STEP 8:
- Click the thread’s context menu if you want to make an edit or delete the thread.
