This guide provides instructions on how to create a Panopto assignment, so that students have access to record a Panopto video and have it uploaded to your Panopto folder, as well as embedded to the assignment module for your review in Brightspace.

STEP 1

Log in to Brightspace and visit the “Assignments” tab – Select “New Assignment”

STEP 2

Enter an assignment name and instructions for your assignment. Under ‘Submission & Completion,’ make sure to update the submission type from ‘file submission’ to: ‘Text Submission’

STEP 3

Click “Save and Close” to save the assignment when you’re ready

Your students will now have access to record videos. They can select the “Insert Stuff” icon as seen below on the left, and then select “Panopto Student Submission Tool” as seen below on the right.

The below submission tool will load for the student. This process will automatically create a Panopto ‘assignments’ folder like you see at the top of the tool below – any videos students record will automatically store inside that folder in your Panopto account - the title of the folder will reflect your course name where you list the assignment. The student video will also be embedded within the assignment for your review in Brightspace. Students can choose ‘Record’ and select a record option to begin recording and submit.​​​​​​​
